The installation of GE 150 6MW offshore wind turbines has kicked off at the 30MW Block Island project in the US.
Developer Deepwater Wind said today the first tower component was being lifted into place (pictured) marking the first time an offshore wind turbine has been installed in US waters.
Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up Brave Tern is at the site having completed its transatlantic journey at the weekend.
The jack-up is being assisted Montco Offshore heavy lift vessels Paul and Caitlyn.
Turbine installation is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
