As Colombia launches its Roadmap for the Deployment of Offshore Wind Energy, BlueFloat Energy has revealed it is planning to develop seven projects in the country.
BlueFloat said that Vientos Alisios was most advanced offshore wind project in Colombia to date with pre-feasibility status already granted and grid connection secured.
The 500MW project located off the waters between the Atlantic and Bolívar departments in Colombia, together with Enerxia Renovables, its strategic partner in the country.
This partnership combines BlueFloat Energy’s global experience in offshore wind with Enerxia’s strong local presence, development expertise and track record advising the development of over 2GW of offshore wind and PV projects in Colombia.
It is hoped that the project will be ready to build in 2024/25.
BlueFloat is also exploring developing six other potential projects with a total capacity of 5200MW.
Two of these projects located off the coast of Santa Marta obtained pre-feasiblity in August 2021.
