BlueFloat Energy has announced its 1GW Winds of September floating offshore wind project in Taiwan has successfully passed its final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
This milestone follows the project’s preliminary approval last October.
Winds of September is BlueFloat Energy’s first floater in Taiwan.
Located 25 kilometres off the coast of Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City, the wind farm will be positioned in an area of around 125 square kilometres and water depths of around 70 metres to 96 metres.
BlueFloat said the EIA progress marked an advancement for floating wind technology in Taiwan, underscoring its feasibility.
It said: “BlueFloat Energy remains committed to exploring and maximizing the potential of floating offshore wind, contributing to the country’s carbon-neutral objectives.
“Looking ahead, we are ready to participate in the forthcoming floating wind demonstration projects in Taiwan.”
