Canadian outfit Bridgemans Services Group has built a specially-designed landing on its MV Bluefort floating hotel that can transfer up to 150 wind turbine technicians a day.
The landing caters for six different types of crew transfer vessels and provides a transfer rate of 15 seconds per person, the company said.
Bridgemans president Brian Grange said redesigning the vessel’s boat landing followed research, tests and feedback from clients. The landing was part of a €6m package of upgrade works for the vessel.
He said: “We wanted to make sure that Bluefort was the most efficient option for today’s wind farm developments but was also future-proofed for the coming projects that are further from shore and in deeper waters.
“We have ensured it can adapt to the next generation of larger crew transfer vessels that will be able to operate in seas of 2.5 metres and above.
“The improvement works that we carried out have ensured that Bluefort has the safest and most flexible and versatile CTV boat landing capability on the market.”
MV Bluefort is currently providing a home for workers commissioning the 70 Adwen 5MW turbines at the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
