Fred Olsen Windcarrier is ready to install the first Siemens 6MW turbine at the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Jack-up vessel Bold Tern (pictured) is deployed together with Seajacks jack-up Scylla from the port of Esbjerg, a Siemens spokesman said.
The project, which will feature a total of 67 6MW turbines, is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Cable lay vessel Siem Aimery assisted by installation support vessel Siem Moxie will carry out inter array cabling, which is expected to be finished by May.
In mid-November, transmission system operator TenneT connected Veja Mate to the BorWin2 grid hub at the site some 95km northwest of the island of Borkum.
Seajacks Zaratan installed the final Bladt-built transition piece in October.
Heerema Marine Contractors installed the substation topside in September, while Seajacks Scylla completed installation of 67 EEW-fabricated XXL monopiles in August.
The shareholders in the wind farm are Highland Group, Siemens Financial Services and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
