Eon has completed unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance at the site of the 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
Installation of monopile foundations can now start as planned in 2017 at the 39 square km site between the island of Rügen and the Danish island of Bornholm, Eon said.
The UXO operation took four months and found more than 400 suspicious objects in depths of up to 37 metres, the German company said.
Eon said 43 of the objects were confirmed as UXO but were not highly explosive and so could be transported to the port of Mukran in Sassnitz, where they were handed over to the authorities.
The work was carried out without incidents and on schedule and budget, Eon said.
The Arkona project, which is a joint venture between Eon and Statoil, will comprise 60 Siemens 6.4MW turbines.
