Dutch outfit Royal Boskalis Westminster has reached an agreement to acquire German offshore cable installation business Bohlen Doyen from SPIE.
Bohlen Doyen’s operations include grid-to-grid, offshore substation and shore connections for offshore wind farms.
The acquisition includes three large cable laying barges with capacities ranging from 800 to 4000 tonnes, burial tools, personnel and several small commercial and maintenance contracts.
The deal will be financed through Boskalis’ own cash flow and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2019 subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions.
Bohlen Doyen’s previous cable installation work includes BorWin 3, DolWin 3 and NordLink.
It was also subcontracted by Prysmian for the first phase of the Ostwind.
