Bourbon Subsea Services has won an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for the 30MW EolMed floating offshore wind pilot in the French Mediterranean Sea.
The scope of work will consist of the complete offshore installation and includes the detailed design, procurement and fabrication of the floating electrical hub, the inter array cables, the anchoring and the mooring systems.
Bourbon will rely on its team based in Marseilles, France and will also work with a network of local partners, which has been built up over more than 10 years.
EolMed will comprise three floaters each hosting a 10MW turbine.
The floating turbines will be installed by mid-2024.
Bourbon Subsea Services chief executive Patrick Belenfant said: “We are very happy of this partnership with EolMed.
“Thanks to the effort of the team and the trust of the EolMed partners, we are on the path to initiate a great milestone for the development of floating wind in Europe.
“This award demonstrates also our capabilities to undertake wide EPCI offshore projects.”
Bourbon said that since 2011 it has installed most of the floating turbine prototypes around the world – Portugal, France, Scotland and Norway.
