Bourbon Subsea Services has won a deal from the Windplus consortium to install three floating turbines at the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic project off Portugal.
The scope includes project management, engineering and procurement of the mooring system, which is being supplied by Vryhof.
A first phase of in-water construction will see the three sets of mooring lines pre-laid.
The three MHI Vestas 8.3MW turbines atop Principle Power foundations will then be towed during a second phase and hooked up.
Bourbon said it will provide a number of marine assets for the job
“After having installed the prototype in 2011, we are very pleased to have now been chosen to support this significant European commercial floating wind farm project,” said Bourbon chief executive Patrick Belenfant.
“The opportunity permits Bourbon to reaffirm its commitment to contributing to the growth of the renewable energy industry and demonstrate its unique expert capability in delivering technologically innovative turnkey services to demanding clients.”
WindFloat Atlantic is being developed by EDPR, Principle Power and Repsol and is due online next year.
