Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up Brave Tern has arrived in the port of Esbjerg to start mobilising for work on the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.
Brave Tern (pictured) arrived at the port in Denmark after completing a charter with Prysmian Group, Windcarrier said.
The vessel will install 80 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines at Yunlin starting in the spring.
The wind farm is scheduled for completion in December 2021.
Yunlin is currently owned by German company WPD (73%) and 27% by a Sojitz Corporation-led consortium, which also includes Chugoku Electric Power, Chudenko Corporation, Shikoku Electric Power and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation.
A subsidiary of Thai outfit Electricity Generating Public Company called Greenwind Energy is in the process of acquiring a 25% stake in the project, expected to close soon.
Following the work at Yunlin, Brave Tern will install 62 MHI Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines at the 600MW Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farms also off Taiwan.
