Buss Terminal Eemshaven (BTE) successfully completed the handling and load-out of monopiles and transition pieces for the 960MW He Dreiht offshore wind project off Germany.
Serving as base port for EnBW’s He Dreiht project, BTE in the north of the Netherlands hosted the unloading of the project’s monopiles between January and August.
Each steel structure has a diameter of 9.2 metres, a length of up to 71 metres and weigh up to 1350 tons, while the 35-metre-high transition pieces weigh 640 tons each.
The terminal also managed the storage of these components and their subsequent loading onto seagoing barges for installation.
Beyond the terminal logistics in Eemshaven, the engineering and project management aspects associated with the logistics scope of the project were covered by Buss Offshore Solutions in Hamburg.
He Dreiht will feature 64 wind turbines located approximately 90 km north-west of the island of Borkum and 110 km west of Helgoland and will be connected to the grid at the end of 2025.

Sarens provided services to TP manufacturer Smulders, monopile manufacturer Steelwind and the transport and installation contractor Heerema.
The equipment comprised three cranes of the CC8800/1, CC9800 and LR12500-1 classes, lined up at BTE’s quay side and over 100 SPMT axle lines transported the components.
Ravensbergen added: “On site, there was a strong hands-on mentality that went far beyond the contractually defined areas of responsibility.
“It did not matter which company the individual team members and employees on site belonged to.
“Everyone worked hand in hand to achieve the common goal.”
