The owners of the 288MW Butendiek offshore wind farm have concluded €950m refinancing of the project, which is located in the German North Sea.
The funding has been provided by a group of domestic and international banks, as well as the European Investment Bank, WPD said.
WPD is joint owner of the wind farm along with Marguerite Fund, Siemens Financial Services, Industriens Pension, Pensionskassernes Administration, Caisse des Dépôts, and Elektrizitätswerk der Stadt Zürich.
Marguerite Fund executive Michael Dedieu said: “The success of the Butendiek wind farm – the smooth course of the wind farm’s construction, on the one hand, as well as the very good performance on the other hand – has been the basis for the successfully implemented refinancing.”
WPD executive Helge Rau said: “The package has been very attractive for the banks, so that the transaction has been significantly oversubscribed.”
