Consultants Cathie Associates have established a subsidiary in the US to serve the country’s emerging offshore wind industry.
The offshore geoscience and geotechnical engineering outfit has opened the unit in Boston following six months of planning, it said.
Cathie Associates has offices in London and Newcastle, as well as four cities in mainland Europe.
It is one of a trio of consultancies Dong chose in October to support its offshore wind projects over the next five years.
“We have been following the industry for over five years and supporting a number of planned developments,” chief executive and founder David Cathie said.
“We feel the time is right to demonstrate our future commitment to US offshore wind, and to recognise the importance of local content and American jobs.”
Cathie Associates business development manager Gareth Ellery added: “With the construction of the Block Island wind farm and both Dong Energy and Statoil entering the market, momentum is beginning to build.
“With over 25GW of offshore wind experience and a growing track record in the US, we are excited to support this emerging industry.”
