Bidding for the UK’s second Contract for Difference (CfD) auction could be delayed until August due to possible appeals from non-qualifying applicants.
CfD delivery partner Ofgem has opened the window for applicants who remain non-qualifying to request an appeal.
Should any appeals be lodged, the sealed bid window for the £290m auction for so-called Pot 2 projects – including offshore wind – will open on 14 August.
Notification of successful CfD bids would then be made on 11 September.
If there are no non-qualification appeals made in the window closing on 13 June, the sealed bid window will open on 23 June with CfD winners notified on 20 July.
The auction round is for renewables projects to be delivered in either 2021-22 or 2022-23.
