Chinese company Orient Cable has won its first engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a subsea cabling job in Vietnam for the 310MW Binh Dai offshore wind farm.
Orient Cable will supply and install 185km of 35kV subsea cabling for the project located off the coast Binh Dai district of Thua Duc.

The company said the project is located only 7km from shore and so all the turbines will be connected directly from the wind farm to the onshore substation without an ‘export cable’.
Delivery is planned for the first quarter of next year, Orient Cable said.
Binh Dai will feature a 74 turbines supplied by both Siemens Gamesa and Goldwind, it added.
