Connecticut officials and the US Business Network for Offshore Wind will be involved in a briefing and reception next week to discuss the US state’s role in the offshore wind sector.
The event on 16 July will be held at the offices of law firm McCarter & English in Hartford and will be co-hosted with consultancy Ramboll.
One panel will discuss how Connecticut is positioning itself to become ‘ground zero’ for offshore wind, the goal of the state’s governor Ned Lamont.
Lamont has said offshore wind, solar and energy efficiency must be major contributors to the US’ energy source in the near future.
Business Network for Offshore Wind president and chief executive Liz Burdock (pictured) said: “Connecticut confirms the growing strength of the industry in New England.
“I believe this solicitation will accelerate the region’s investments in ports like New London and Bridgeport, and allow Connecticut suppliers to be active participants in the regional offshore wind supply chain.”
