Danish electrical company Scanel International is opening an office in Hull in order for its staff to be closer to four offshore wind projects it is working on in the UK.
One staff member will be based initially at the office, which is located at One Business Village on Hedon Road, but Scanel hopes to expand the team once more UK contracts are secured.
Scanel International key account manager for wind Ove Bolander Johansen (pictured) said: “We tested the water with a satellite office in Billingham, but found Hull to be the perfect location for our first fixed base, as it is right on the Humber, at the heart of the UK’s emerging offshore wind sector.
“It’s also equidistant to Lowestoft and the wind farms off the east coast, and Newcastle and Scotland.
“We’re also carrying out work at Hornsea 1, which is a large project for us, so it’s great to be so close.”
Scanel International provides design and engineering for integrated electrical systems, equipment, installation, commissioning and services.
The company said it has contracts in the UK with Dong Energy and Siemens, among others.
