Denmark’s biggest political party has proposed that the country builds another two offshore wind farms of at least 800MW before the end of 2030.
The proposal by the Danish Social Democrats, currently favoured to win upcoming elections, would add to the three 800MW-plus offshore tenders already approved by the government.

The Danish Wind Industry Association (DWIA) welcomed the announcement.
“It’s a very visionary proposal, as Denmark needs large amounts of renewable energy to meet the Danish climate targets,” DWIA head of policy Martin Bondergaard said.
“Offshore wind energy is cheap, safe and renewable,” he said. “The proposal plays into the overall ambition of making the North Sea a Silicon Valley for offshore wind.”
