Ofgem plans to launch a tender round at the end of the month for the offshore transmission assets at the Moray East and Triton Knoll projects off the Scottish and English east coasts, respectively.
The UK energy regulator said the developers of the projects have met the regulations necessary for the offshore transmission owner (OFTO) tenders to be launched.
These include the receipt of payment and security from each developer, Ofgem said.
The tender round for the projects’ grid assets will start on 30 November, it added.
Under the OFTO regime, developers build the wind farms and associated grid infrastructure, with the latter then tendered for sale by Ofgem to be owned and operated by another company.
