Marine contractor DeepOcean has completed export cable installation for Hengtong Group at what is understood to be the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic floating offshore wind farm off Portugal.
The work included project management, engineering and execution of all marine activities associated with the installation of an 18km static and dynamic submarine cables, DeepOcean said.
The company also carried out installation of pre-lay rock bags, post-lay rock placement plus the application of Tekmar and First Subsea cable protection systems in rocky seabed areas.
It also performed route engineering, free-span analysis and a burial risk assessment.
DeepOcean’s T1 Trencher was deployed in areas of sufficient seabed sediment to carry out the work.
The job was DeepOcean’s first in the floating offshore wind industry.
Hengtong Group secured the contract to deliver export cables for the WindFloat Atlantic project last year.
