The Crown Estate has appointed Huub den Rooijen as director of energy, minerals and infrastructure with immediate effect.
Den Rooijen (pictured) was previously head of offshore wind at the Crown Estate, which he joined in 2012.
As head of offshore wind, he has overseen the offshore wind energy programme as part of the Crown Estate’s active asset management of the UK seabed to unlock value from this natural asset.
In his new role, Den Rooijen will continue to lead the offshore wind team in addition to overseeing ocean energy, marine aggregates, carbon capture and storage, and infrastructure including cables and pipelines.
The appointment follows Rob Hastings departure as director of energy and infrastructure.
He said: “I’m delighted to be taking forward one of the most unique roles in real estate – managing the seabed.
“I look forward to leading our excellent teams across a diverse range of activities, from established industries such as marine aggregates, cables and pipelines, to high growth sectors such as offshore wind, to unlock value from this natural asset and continue to deliver strong returns.”
