Global company DHI has been selected by the Dutch government to provide met ocean data and analysis for the Holland North and South offshore wind zones.
The consultancy won a €250,000 contract to supply meteorological and oceanographic materials to serve as a baseline for the eventual design, installation and maintenance of wind turbines and other infrastructure.
The work will be finalised in 2017 and DHI beat nine other bidders to the prize.
The Dutch government is planning to hold tenders for 1.4GW in Holland South and 700MW in Holland North, with all projects due online by 2023.
DHI specialises in water-based environmental consultancy. Work off the Netherlands is expected to be led by its Danish office, which has been involved with offshore wind since 1991.
