MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has awarded DHSS with a contract to manage helicopter services for crew change during the installation and commissioning phase of wind turbines at the over 731MW Borssele 3&4 offshore wind project in the Dutch North Sea.
DHSS will manage the coordination of the transport of passengers, luggage, and cargo from its logistics hub at Den Helder Airport to the offshore wind project and back.
Construction of the Borssele 3&4 offshore wind farm, developed by the consortium Blauwwind, began in October 2019, when installation vessel Aeolus commenced with the installation of the monopile foundations.
The Borssele 3&4 offshore wind farm is located 23km from Vlissingen in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone and comprises 77 V164-9.5MW turbines, supplied by MHI Vestas, installed on monopile foundations.
When fully commissioned, the project will produce enough power to supply around 825,000 Dutch households with renewable electricity.
MHI Vestas head of offshore engineering and aviation Ole Jacob Wang Nielsen said: “DHSS has been a valuable partner to MHI Vestas in several operations in the North Sea.
“We’re comfortable with the logistics and transportation expertise of DHSS and look forward to working with them again.”
