DNV GL’s Noble Denton unit has won a contract from Cosco Shipping Company for installation engineering services on the BorWin gamma HVDC converter platform in the German North Sea.
Noble Denton will carry out the dynamic positioning (DP) float-over work involving a heavy module installation method using a DP vessel in tandem with Cosco.
TenneT contracted a consortium of Siemens and Petrofac to design, build and install BorWin gamma, with Cosco subcontracted for transport and installation.
The BorWin gamma AC/DC converter platform is part of the grid connection project for the BorWin 3 HVDC link for offshore wind farms.
DNV GL – Oil & Gas Greater China project director Andy Wang said: “DNV GL has jointly completed 10 installations successfully around the world with Cosco.
“Our experts have a solid track record in DP float-over that won the confidence of Petrofac and Siemens.”
