Dominion Energy is celebrating a double milestone as the company’s 2.6GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project saw its 70th monopile installed, and laid its first export cable.
Monopile installation at the site off the south coast of Virginia is being carried out by DEME Group’s Orion installation vessel, while the cable is being laid by the vessel Living Stone.

DEME thanks the teams at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Virginia, and the facility is a “premiere staging area.”
The project had set a goal of installing between 70 and 100 monopiles by the end of the first of its two construction seasons in mid-October.
Once completed, CVOW will have 176 turbines.
