US company Eversource Energy has taken a 50% stake in Dong Energy’s 1GW Bay State offshore wind farm proposed off the Massachusetts coast.
The two companies will jointly develop, construct and operate the project in a 50:50 partnership.
Dong will focus on developing the offshore generation and transmission assets, while Eversource will use its expertise to develop and construct the onshore grid links.
Both companies expect first power from the project in the early 2020s.
