In July, DP Energy and Iberdrola published an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) scoping report for Inis Ealga.
It found the project has the potential to have a capacity of up to 1GW.
It is anticipated that the survey works will take five days, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Irish Lights vessel the ILV Granuaile will undertake the geophysical site survey campaign.
The reconnaissance geophysical survey will be undertaken by running widely spaced lines across the array investigation area.
