Construction of Statoil’s 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm project has reached the halfway point.
Almost half of the foundations have been installed, the export cables have been laid and the substation jacket has been lifted in place.
The substation topside, which together with jacket was built by SLP in Lowestoft, will be ready for installation in August.
Installation will be carried out by Seaway Heavy Lifting’s Oleg Strashnov, which is currently installing the foundations.
Dudgeon project marine operations head Svein Aage Gurrik said: “They are installing an average of three foundations per week, but in this area we are of course at the mercy of the weather.”
Onshore, the Necton substation is almost completed, and cable-laying from Weybourne to Necton is about to be finished.
Great Yarmouth is hiring operations personnel and in September a new office building and base will be opened, together with a naming ceremony for the service vessel from Esvagt to be used in the Dudgeon operating phase.
