Dutch outfit SMST has provided Van Oord’s installation vessel Aeolus with a motion-compensated gangway for work on Dong Energy’s 659MW Walney 3 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The company said the M series access bridge includes a flatrack and a telescopic pedestal elevator system.
The first landing using the gangway took place on 24 June, after a short installation period that took three-and-a-half days, SMST said.
It added that the high tide differences on the Walney 3 project require a telescopic pedestal to be added to the set-up to enable height compensation of six metres.
