EDF and ESB have opened the operations and maintenance base for the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe wind farm off east Scotland.
The three storey facility in Eyemouth Harbour comprises a 1,040 square metre main building as well as a 538 square metre storage warehouse.
Here works including servicing of the turbine components and inspections of the blades, foundations and electrical cables will be carried out.
The site was built by Fife-based construction company Muir Construction and is expected to provide around 50 permanent jobs.
EDF chief executive officer Matthieu Hue said that the company has already started recruiting for these roles during an unveiling event at the Eyemouth base yesterday, which will support the wind through its 25 year operational life.
Michael Matheson MSP, (pictured) who was also at the event said that maximising opportunities for jobs for offshore wind operations and maintenance and manufacturing opportunities would be key to making sure the Scotland can reach its goal of delivering 40GW of offshore wind by 2030.
First power at Neart na Gaoithe is expected in summer later this year, with the site due to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
