All 80 turbines have finally been installed at the 480MW Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm off France.
The country’s first commercial offshore wind farm is expected to enter production by the end of 2022.
Turbine installation has taken under six months, starting in April, with first power delivered from the project in June, from the installed GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines.
Saint-Nazaire is being developed by a consortium of EDF, Enbridge and Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.
Jan de Nul has carried out the turbine installations for the wind farm using jack-up installation vessel Vole au Vent.
Global Wind Service (GWS) is providing 50% of the service and maintenance scope at Saint-Nazaire, with the service and maintenance tasks running throughout 2022 and 2023.
During these GWS teams will perform planned maintenance, including brake-in and annual maintenance along with corrective maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting and unplanned service.
In April 2022 Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and Tidal Transit launched the first crew transfer vessel (CTV) dedicated to the operations and maintenance at Saint-Nazaire.
