The Scottish government has granted planning permission to EDPR and Engie for the 800MW Moray West offshore wind farm off the country’s west coast.
The developers have secured the green light for up to 85 turbines 22km from shore in water depths of between 35 and 54 metres.
Hardware will feature rotor diameters of between 164 to 230 metres and will be located next to the developers’ under-construction 950MW Moray East wind farm.
EDPR and Engie hope to reach financial close in the third quarter of 2020, subject to a successful Contracts for Difference bid.
The developers are planning to bid in this year’s CfD auction with the project, it is understood.
If successful, the timeline would put the scheme on track for first power in early 2024 and full generation by the end of that year.
