UK high voltage engineering company EDS HV Group has provided grid connection system studies to the 50MW Kincardine floating offshore wind farm off Scotland’s Aberdeen coast.
EDS was contracted by Spanish developer and construction company Cobra Group to carry out the studies.
The studies included load flow, short circuit, fault ride through, reactive compensation and operation/contingency analysis, EDS said.
EDS group engineering director Luke Bishop said: “Floating wind is becoming an increasing part of the renewables mix and we are proud to have provided our services and demonstrated our skills and expertise in the field of power systems analysis.”
Kincardine began generating renewable power in September last year with the installation of the first turbine.
The project will be completed next year with the installation and commissioning of an additional five V164-9.5MW MHI Vestas machines each installed on a floating substructure.
