A further 50MW of the He Dreiht offshore wind farm project in the German North Sea has been allocated via a power purchase agreement (PPA).
For the planned 900MW He Dreiht, EnBW has sealed a PPA for 50MW with Stuttgart-based technology and services company Robert Bosch.
The output is the equivalent to around 200 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year.
The PPA runs for a term of 15 years starting in 2026.
EnBW’s offshore wind farm, which has been built without state funding, is set to enter operation in 2025.
He Dreiht will be built about 90 km north-west of Borkum and around 110 km west of Helgoland and is scheduled to enter operation at the end of 2025.
EnBW secured the contract in 2017 in the first offshore tendering process in Germany with a zero-cent bid and is building the wind farm without state funding.
“PPAs can be drawn up on an individual basis and they enable companies to consistently implement their sustainability goals.
“And for us, they are an important element in realising projects in the field of renewable energy,” said Markus Quack, from EnBW’s trading unit, who helped to draw up the contract.
He Dreiht will feature 64 15MW turbines.
EnBW is planning to make the final investment decision in the first quarter of 2023.
