EnBW has announced that its subsidiary Norseman Wind AS will not participate in Norway’s Sorlige Nordsjo 2 auction on 18 March.
The tender offers the opportunity to install an offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1.5GW in the in the Southern North Sea II.
EnBW was one of five consortia selected to participate in the auction and achieves pre-qualification.
Nevertheless, participation in the auction is dependent on adequate regulatory framework conditions, which the developer currently does not see.
A company statement noted that the key factors in EnBW’s decision were the requirement for it to build and own the high-voltage direct current transmission connector and the limitation of state support, capped at 23bn Norwegian kroner.
After a thorough analysis of the current parameters of the auction, the company reached a decision to withdraw from the current bidding process.
EnBW said it remains committed to the Norwegian market and will track Norway’s offshore wind policy and market developments for a potential bid in future auctions.
“We will continue to be a constructive partner in developing Norway’s offshore wind market framework,” the statement added.
