An Engie-led consortium has submitted a Mediterranean Sea proposal in France’s floating offshore wind farm tender.
The development will include between three and six turbines with a capacity of 6MW each. It is located 15km off the coast of Leucate in the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées region.
The energy giant will work with Spain’s EDPR and the Caisse des Dépôts on the project.
French construction company Eiffage will manufacture and install the semi-submersible platforms. US company Principal Power developed the project’s design based on its WindFloat project off coast of Portugal.
The joint venture will run the assembly and maintenance operations from nearby ports in the region.
About five consortia are understood to have participated in France’s floating offshore wind test farm tender with a total of up to ten different projects.
