Danish vessel operator Esvagt has appointed a new head of business development to lead a push into new services, including in offshore wind.
Flemming Hjorth (pictured), who has previously worked with companies including A2Sea and Orsted, will be charged with identifying new opportunities and developing new service concepts.
Hjorth said Esvagt, which currently mainly operates Services Operations Vessels, should take advantage of its position in offshore wind.
“There is great potential in developing charter and using the vessels for more tasks. This could, for example, be inspection of turbines and blades, drone inspections on unmanned satellites, or ROV inspections of cables and pipes,” he said.
“Flexibility and timing are key for most, and that is something we can really deliver.”
Chief commercial officer Soren Karas said developing new offerings strengthens the relationship with customers.
“We see that our industry still needs innovation and we are now concentrating and strengthening our efforts here with a dedicated business developer. I expect that this will broaden our palette and ensure even closer relationships with our customers.”
