The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is to meet with federal, state and local officials to discuss offshore wind leasing off the coasts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force meeting, which is taking place on 16 May in Falmouth, will include updates on BOEM’s existing commercial wind leases and plans for future leasing initiatives in the Atlantic.
Copenhagen Offshore Partners, Deepwater Wind and Dong Energy already hold offshore leases in the area and PNE Wind USA and Statoil seek to join their ranks.
Another auction is expected to be held in early 2018.
