The final turbine at Orsted’s 900MW Greater Changhua 1 and 2a Taiwanese offshore wind farms has been successfully installed.
Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s jackup Bold Tern undertook the installation work. The project has deployed a total of 111 turbines in the Taiwan Strait.
Orsted will move onto to commission the project and deliver renewable energy to Taiwan’s grid.
The 605MW Greater Changhua 1 is 50% owned by Orsted with Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Cathay PE holding the other half between them.
“It is the culmination of a great team effort over many months bringing together the skills of talented colleagues, our partners at SGRE and dedicated local suppliers,” said Orsted Asia Pacific President Per Mejnert Kristensen.
“Thank you to all involved for the expertise and perseverance to overcome the challenges along the way.
“I also extend my gratitude to the authorities in Taiwan including the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Bureau of Energy and the Industrial Development Administration for their ongoing support.”
