The Finnish Government has approved the permits to lease state-owned sea areas for Suomen Hyotytuuli’s 500MW Tahkoluoto 2 offshore wind farm and the 1300MW Korsnas project under development by Metsahallitus.
Both sites will remain state property with rental income paid to the state.
Local municipalities – Korsnas and Pori – will also receive property taxes from the projects after they have been completed.
In approving the lease permits, the government determines that both areas are suitable for offshore wind power production.
Tahkoluoto 2 is an extension to the 42MW Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm, operational since 2017, while state-owned company Metsahallitus is leading development of Korsnas.
Metsahallitus is still looking for a project partner to construct and operate the wind farm.
