Siemens Gamesa has cast the initial turbine blades for the second phase of the 120MW Formosa 1 phase 2 project off the Taiwan coast.
The blades have been produced in Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Aalborg, Denmark ready for shipping and installation in 2019.
According to the project’s turbine supplier the B75 blades, which use Taiwan-produced Swancor resin and hardener, have passed the quality review.
Formosa 1 is a joint venture between Orsted, Swancor Renewable and Macquarie Capital.
Siemens Gamesa signed a contract in 2018 for the supply of 20 SWT-6.0-154 turbines, and 15-year full service agreement on the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind power plant.
Turbine installation is scheduled for this year.
The first phase of Formosa 1 has been operational since April 2017 and consists of two 4MW offshore wind turbines.
