The first eight monopiles for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project have departed for the US, from EEW SPC’s factory in Rostock.
In preparation for RoRo loading, the monopiles were lifted into the transport cradle using the Strand Jack system.

The foundations are on their way to Portsmouth Marine Terminal in Portsmouth, Virginia, where they will arrive by around mid-October.
The CVOW 2.6GW project is being developed by Dominion Energy and is located off Virginia Beach.
In total, EEW SPC will produce 176 monopile foundations for the project.
The monopiles are 83 metres long, weigh 1538 tons and have a diameter up to 9.5 metres.
The wind farm is expected to be operational in 2026.
