The first two ships have docked at new berths built as part of the Green Port Hull development.
The vessels, Stema Shipping’s MV Bulknes and MV Beltnes, have brought almost 400,000 tonnes of crushed stone from Norway, which will be used to surface the site of Siemens’ planned blade factory.
Associated British Ports said it has built three berths to accommodate wind installation vessels visiting the facility.
The new quayside measures 620 metres and offers a continuous berthing face, it added.
The ships have been brought in by the Graham Lagan Construction Group joint venture, which is ABP’s main contractor for the enabling works on site.
