First Subsea has landed a contract to provide cable protection systems for EDF Renewables and ESB’s 448MW Neart Na Gaoithe project in Scotland.
Belgian array cable EPCI contractor Deme Offshore has asked the Lancaster-based outfit to provide units to protect the project’s 66kv-rated in-field lines.
First Subsea said its units will protect the cables where they feed into the project’s 54 Siemens Gamesa 8.4MW turbines and its offshore substation.
“As a UK-based company, we are delighted to be awarded this contract, 100% of our bought-out parts will be supplied by UK companies” said First Subsea managing director John Shaw.
Offshore construction work for the project, which is located 15km off Fife, is due to get underway in June this year.
The project is due to be fully commissioned by 2023.
