Atkins and Pilot Offshore’s 48MW Kincardine floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Aberdeen has agreed to use Kishorn dry dock, a site unused for 23 years.
The dry dock, one of the largest in Western Europe, will be used to help build the project’s eight 6MW floating turbines.
Kincardine Offshore and Kishorn Port have signed an exclusivity agreement for the facility, which will create up to 200 jobs.
Work will start in August, with the first turbine expected to be in the water in the second quarter of 2018.
“This is a significant development for the people of Kishorn and will directly lead to the creation of up to 200 much-needed jobs in the area,” project director Carlos Barat said.
