Fon Energy Services has signed an MoU with software provider Cognite to develop digital products for the operation and maintenance (O&M) segment of offshore wind.
As part of the partnership, the company will use Cognite’s industrial data operations platform, Cognite Data Fusion, to enable offshore wind farm operators to use industrial data for deploying AI solutions.
Fon was launched in 2022, backed by Oslo-listed industrial investment company Akastor, which has the Aker group as its largest shareholder, and Norwegian industrial group IKM.
“Industrializing and digitising O&M is a key reason behind why Fon was established,” said Fon Energy Services chief executive Rahman Khanani (left).
“We see a significant need for reducing cost through doing more work onshore, significantly improving delivery quality, optimizing the ‘working time offshore’ and using data to reduce costs of unscheduled maintenance,” Khanani added.
Cognite is a global industrial software as a service (SaaS) company.
“At Cognite, we are heavily focusing on our Asset Performance Management (APM) offering as a critical component in helping industrial companies develop a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable future,” said vice president of business development, power and renewables at CogniteIngar Landet (right).
He added: “Our collaboration with Fon will allow us to combine our APM offering towards offshore wind owners with its domain knowledge and cost-efficient O&M solutions to deliver a joint digital offering that benefits the offshore wind industry.
