The floating wind strike price set in this year’s Contract for Difference auction is unsustainable and presents a major challenge for developers planning large-scale projects in the future.
This was the message from the representatives of several companies speaking to delegates on the first day of the Floating Offshore Wind 2022 conference in Aberdeen.
It follows Hexicon’s winning £87.30 per megawatt-hour bid for its 32MW TwinHub project off Cornwall in the UK government’s fourth CfD allocation round.
More on this story can be read in today’s Floating Offshore Wind 2022 special reNEWS show daily.
The second daily of the event also includes a feature on measures ports and harbours are putting in place to accommodate nascent floating wind technology, and an exclusive interview with the director behind the 800MW Mara Mhor floating wind project off Scotland.
