France will soon issue a tender for an additional offshore wind farm off the coast of Berck-sur-Mer in the north of the country.
Environment Minister Ségolène Royal announced the plans during a visit to nearby port Boulogne-sur-Mer.
She did not specify the project’s capacity, but said the project 15km off the coast would not disrupt fishing activities or have a significant visual impact.
Construction and assembly works could be carried out in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
The development could be added to the ongoing Round 3 offshore tender, which already includes an up 750MW project at Dunkirk and a wind farm off the island of Oleron on the country’s Atlantic coast.
