Fred Olsen Renewables will take a decision at a “later date” on whether to invest in LEEDCo’s 18MW Icebreaker offshore wind farm in the US Great Lakes.
The Norwegian company said it has not taken a stake in the freshwater project “at the present time”, despite local media reports, but is “investing time and money to de-risk the project”.
FOR funded a recently completed geotechnical programme and its company Windcarrier has teamed up with LEEDCo to provide installation expertise.
“A decision on whether to invest will be taken later,” said the company.
LEEDCo is planning to build turbines some 15km into Lake Erie off Cleveland.
