French duo Nass&Wind and Ifremer are collaborating on a project to tank test offshore floating wind turbines.
The Rotor project, which is also supported by the French region of Brittany, will design, build and test a scale model of a turbine with a three-metre diameter.
The model will be ready for testing at the Ifremer centre in Brest from October, the partners said.
Nass&Wind project manager Cyril Bourgoin said: “Complex coupled behaviours between structure and wind turbine combined with wind and wave impact will be tested at a small scale and will allow us to validate control and command strategies.”
